Profile
I am a qualified and experienced Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. CBT is a practical and solution-focused style of therapy. It works by helping people understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings and behaviour and, with this insight, then offers the chance to make changes. By challenging unhelpful patterns, or sometimes learning to accept things as they really are, relief from a diverse range of distressing issues becomes possible.
It can be a daunting prospect seeking therapy, especially at a time when you are probably not feeling your strongest. I see it as paramount to provide a counselling environment that is a relaxed, friendly and confidential. A place where it feels safe to explore any issues that arise. I offer both short and long term counselling, depending on the persons needs and always in consultation with them.
Over the past five years my main role has been as addictions counsellor. While addiction may be the predominant problem, people often have a wide range of other underlying issues such as anxiety, depression, low self esteem, OCD, childhood abuse, anger, sexual disfunction and so on. This role has given me a broad and profound scope of experience in treating emotional and physiological issues through CBT.
