About me

I am an experienced psychotherapist, couples counsellor and coach and am passionate about growth and development. I work with individuals, couples and organisations (Employee Assistance Programs - EAPs) and combine many approaches using my Transactional Analysis (TA) training as a core framework.

I offer both short and long term work dependent on your needs.  Sometimes it's difficult to know what you want when entering therapy.  This may be your first experience of either individual or couples work and that can feel very uncomfortable, particularly if you find it difficult to talk about yourself or your situation.  Because of this I offer a free half hour telephone session so that you can check out what it might be like and to ask the questions you may have been holding.  It also gives us a chance to assess whether we think we can work together or that it's better you find someone else (which I can help you with).

I find that TA provides a very practical and accessible way of making sense of what is happening within ourselves or in relationship with another.  That's why it's ideal for both individual and couples work.  I do a small amount of teaching with clients during the initial sessions to help bring awareness and then introduce other approaches where I think this would be helpful, for instance I am a NLP master practitioner, certified to use CBT and experienced in 'Focusing' and other body orientated approaches.  Fundamentally though, it is the relationship that we build together which I believe to be the key to the effectiveness of the work.

I am a short walk from the West End and Haymarket.  Alongside a daytime practice, I offer evening and early morning slots for those constrained by working hours.

I spent many years managing, coaching and mentoring staff in the corporate world and so particularly enjoy working with clients struggling in that environment.  It's often a surprise that the relational issues that play out at home can equally appear in the workplace and so bringing that awareness and working together to find ways of managing the impact is both rewarding and effective.
