About us

Hello, a warm welcome to you. My name is Sharon, and I am a qualified Humanistic Integrative Counsellor/Therapist and Clinical Integrative Supervisor at Silverset Counselling Service (SCS). This means that we work with clients who are experiencing a range of issues, using a Humanistic Integrative approach: CBT, Gestalt, Person-centred, Psychodynamic, Existential, and TA. We adhere to the BACP ethical framework of good practice and abide by the ACC professional code of ethics.

If you are hurting, worried, anxious, fearful, feeling overburdened with life’s problems, lonely or distressed, or just searching for answers, then we believe counselling can help you.

You will be given space to share what’s going on in your life:

... to share your story
... to explore your thoughts and feelings, in a safe environment
... to explore pressing issues
... to set goals and to work toward them

We work with adults, young people, and the elderly, offering services in:

  • Long-term or short-term counselling therapy
  • Crisis listening sessions
  • Coaching / mentoring sessions

We conduct online counselling safely and confidentially: Google or Skype video call, phone, and online chat counselling sessions are also available. Face-to-face counselling is also available in Lewisham. Each session will last 50 minutes, once a week, over an arranged period, and will start and end on time. If you decide that counselling is what you require, you will be allotted your own space to share at your own pace.

(WE NOW OFFER FACE-TO-FACE SESSIONS IN LEWISHAM!)

Our aim is to provide you with a trustworthy and confidential opportunity, for you to explore your thoughts and feelings in a secure environment. Your needs come first, and therefore you will be helped through this process without judgement or giving advice. We will help you work towards self-awareness and help to promote change, with clarity of thought and positive decisions.

During therapy, you will work on building your self-esteem and self-confidence. You are responsible for yourself, and your own actions, and you have the freedom of choice. You will be allowed to work through issues in your own time, and you will be helped to explore and work them through.

All work done with you will remain confidential, but we attend monthly supervision, where we discuss our clients work with a qualified supervisor. However, to ensure confidentiality, clients are identified by using their initials or first name only.

Subsequently, we attend ongoing professional training and CPD, for continuous counselling competency.

Face-to-face counselling therapy is now available within the Lewisham area. We also offer counselling services remotely, to the following areas within Southeast London and further afield - the UK and Online.

(WE NOW OFFER FACE-TO-FACE SESSIONS IN LEWISHAM!)

The Practice is in Lewisham, within Southeast London, SE13.

Alternatively, you can contact us for more information about video call, phone, or online counselling (chat/email) which may suit your needs, as some clients may find that expressing concerns and/or questions in writing, is better for them and helps to organise and focus on a particular problem.

Please feel free to contact us with your inquiries or to book an initial 45 mins assessment.
You can expect to receive a detailed response within 24-48 hrs of your initial contact.

Member organisations *

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

ACC
Association for Christian Counsellors (ACC)

The Association of Christian Counsellors and Linked Professions is a professional body representing and setting standards for Christian counselling and care in the UK. The organisation is made up of various different membership categories, including Counsellor and Accredited, and requires all members working as counsellors to undertake Continuous Professional Development on a regular basis.

We have verified that at least one professional at this organisation is registered with the relevant professional body.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION (FYI):
People who would like to talk to someone about their circumstances, might think twice about approaching a professional, because of the stigma associated with mental health issues.
However, the need to talk about your situation is not ill mental health. Instead, it is an opportunity to spend time with someone qualified, who is ready to listen and help you work out issues in your life, in a safe and confidential environment.
Therefore, view this as an opportunity for positive change, for better choices and for progress in your life. Celebrities, royals, and famous people seek help, because they are only human, just like you and me.
So please be encouraged and phone, email, or text me today to get the help that you need, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
