About me

Hello and welcome to my profile. I am an experienced counsellor practising in Ashford, Kent.  I am an accredited registered member of the BACP, and adhere to the ethical framework code of practice.  I work from my practice at home, 'Tree View Counselling', an established local counselling practice.

I strongly believe a trusting working relationship is one of the key aspects in the counselling alliance.  I am able to offer you a safe, confidential, comfortable space in which to explore your personal needs.  I value and respect your individual uniqueness.

People come to counselling for a wide variety of different reasons. Some people will have specific issues which may have become challenging, thought provoking and or unmanageable. Challenging personal issues/repetitive patterns of negative behaviour, can have such a negative impact on our ability to self regulate, and maintain high levels of self-care, healthy relationships, workplace stress, mental, physical and emotional wellbeing.

Self-awareness is key to positive change, self development and fundamental in maintaining a healthy balance and well being in life.  I am aware that it can take considerable courage to make a decision to attend counselling, I am empathic and supportive, and my aim is to ensure you feel at ease from our very first point of contact.

At times people can feel stuck in their lives or generally dissatisfied with life, in need of that extra support which our family and or friends are unable to fully offer, it may also be the case that you simply feel unable / uncomfortable to talk to them, for whatever reason.  Counselling is a unique personal experience, a time for you to be heard.

Counselling is a talking therapy, which gives you personal space and opportunity to talk through your problems, thoughts, feelings and behaviours, with out feelings of judgement.
I aim to inform your awareness of your inner resources and abilities for self development, personal growth and empowerment in your life.

Counselling sessions usually takes place on a weekly basis, with each session lasting for 50 minutes.  This will be your space and time, a time for us to focus on, and explore your personal needs, at a pace that you feel comfortable with and emotionally safe to do so.

I hope you have found my profile helpful in making your decision to make contact with me.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
