About me

Are you overwhelmed?

The last few years has brought so many challenges, with our mental health coming under immense amounts of pressure; dealing with the fallout from the pandemic,  an ongoing cost of living crisis, and other world events bring a collective trauma never seen before.  Added to the individual stressors we may be experiencing in life, it is normal that this evokes a response in everyone, and feelings of uncertainty and lack of control are all too common.

Life comes with tests and struggles and we are all vulnerable at times; if you are struggling to cope, it's ok to ask for help.

Counselling and psychotherapy can facilitate positive change to move forward and to help us feel heard and understood.

I can help with:

  • anxiety effecting work or personal life including panic attacks, OCD and health anxiety
  • difficult life experiences e.g. bereavement/loss, divorce, relationship struggles, work related stress
  • past or recent trauma which you feel ready to speak about
  • discrimination or internal conflicts relating to your cultural or religious identity

I offer a safe and confidential space working collaboratively with you, offering symptom relief techniques initially if needed, and further on, exploration of other issues you want to bring.

My training allows the integration of a variety of different approaches to suit your needs and I can adapt accordingly.

As a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), I abide by an ethical framework which assures that I am working to do the best I can to help you.

Training, qualifications & experience

M.A. Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy

BSc Psychology

Reg member British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy

I have several years experience of working in NHS, charity and private organisations on a one to one basis with adults over 18 and 16-24 year olds in further education settings, where I have worked with depression, anxiety, self harm, sexual assault and rape, childhood and adult emotional and physical abuse, autism, dissociation, gender identity, religious and cultural identity issues.

I am also employed at a government department where I am a senior wellbeing lead and trainer with extensive knowledge in organisational mental health and wellbeing, mental health first aid, trauma risk management and managing suicidal crisis.

I continuously aspire to change the culture and attitudes around mental health and strongly believe in integrity, and fairness for all.

I am regularly approached to deliver presentations and share my expertise on general wellbeing such as self-care and coping strategies, as well as specific topics such as burnout or depression and anxiety.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
