About me

ONLINE OR IN-PERSON SESSIONS AVAILABLE.

'All we really want is to be understood and accepted for who we really are.'

Do you feel unhappy all the time, but can't work out why?

Do you have wounds from the past that refuse to go away?

Would you like to speak to someone who accepts you exactly as you are?

We offer a professional, confidential service to help you explore your thoughts and feelings in a safe environment.

I am qualified and experienced therapist - I am trained in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and also Person-Centred Counselling - please see our website for more information. Most clients like to draw on both approaches, particularly with anxiety and depression.

Scott Wood's Therapy & Counselling is a partnership with Stuart Lambley (who also works at a local university).

We see clients in Fulwood, Preston, and in the village of Broughton, to the north of Preston.

I initially trained as a  Counsellor, but now combine this with practical techniques such as mindfulness, CBT and relaxation. The mode of therapy can be adjusted according to your needs. I specialise in depression and relationship breakdown, but have counselled a wide variety of clients.

Flexible opening hours - evenings and weekend appointments are available.

Free 25-minute initial consultation.

Fees £55
We do a certain amount of sessions for a smaller fee for those with limited finances.

(I have received three doses of the vaccine)

Couples counselling also offered.  '

'I was very apprehensive on first contacting couples guidance but was at a stage where we didn't have anywhere else to turn. Charlotte was fantastic, made us feel at ease, and was very impartial. One thing I really liked was we could have humour and speak very openly.'  [Male client]

I look back now and wonder why I had apprehension at all and would recommend whole heartedly.

‘I could be my true self with you.’

‘I’ve seen two other counsellors and they didn’t help – I didn’t want to try again. But my friend convinced me, and I’m so glad they did. It’s been different with you.’

‘You’ve been very kind.’

‘I liked the way you challenged me and always had faith there would be a way through.’

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Key details

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
