About me

I am a BACP Accredited (MBACP Accred) and NCS Accredited (NCS Prof Accred) Psychotherapist. I am also a Fellow of ACCPH and and Advanced Practitioner with Addiction Professionals (formerly FDAP), holding an MSc (Level 7) with distinction in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy. I have worked in Addiction and Mental Health settings until starting my private practice in 2013. I work with people with a wide range of issues and offer a variety of approaches to therapy.

Psychotherapy offers a confidential space where you can think about the changes you wish to make in your life. Often clients have difficulties as a result of past experience and these affect how they respond to their current situation. I work with people to gain more understanding in how their past affects them currently and how these may be addressed.

Having had psychotherapy myself not just as part of my training but continuing to do so since 2008, I know how life changing & enhancing it can be. Your therapeutic journey is individual to you, but it can help to know I've also been on my own journey and now feel privileged to be in a position to help clients at times of personal difficulty.

My training as an Integrative Psychotherapist allows me to help people who are experiencing a wide range of challenges. A lot of people I work with are struggling with anxiety and depression, others lack self-esteem, facing workplace challenges, experienced trauma, struggling with eating issues others are experiencing feelings of sadness, hopelessness, anger and/or despair. With my previous experience in Addiction Clinics & Mental Health Treatment Centres, I often support people affected by addiction including the families of addicts.

Psychotherapists undertake in-depth training which includes extensive placement hours in a variety of settings, personal therapy and a commitment to continued professional development. From my personal experience of therapy and my training, I am able to provide therapy in a way that feels safe and not threatening, where people can talk openly and feel understood and not judged. I feel its important that the therapeutic process is jointly agreed, so in our first appointment we will look at what your goals are from sessions and how I may be able to best support you to make changes to get your life back on track.

I offer a number of services face to face counselling, support groups, walk & talk therapy, online therapy, animal-assisted therapy (including horses and dogs).

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
