About me

My name is Star. I am a professional fully qualified psychotherapist holding a BA Honours Degree in Integrative-Relational Counselling awarded from Middlesex University. My training enables me to draw on a range of therapies to best help you as an individual.

My approach to therapy is first and foremost based upon building a positive therapeutic relationship with each client I work with. I believe that when the foundation of the counselling relationship is based on trust, safety, and non-judgement you will be able to explore ways that will help to bring about change and life choices that feel right.

I am a professional member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapy (BACP) adhering to its, “ethical framework for good practise in counselling and psychotherapy” and therefore governed by the professional conduct procedure outlined in the BACP.

I carry full professional liability insurance.

Training, qualifications & experience

All of us at some stage in life can feel confused, anxious, isolated, stressed or unable to cope, not knowing how to move forward.

At these times, within a safe and confidential space, talking to someone who is understanding, really listens and can offer objective and empathic support means you can begin to explore ways of achieving self-awareness and direction for positive change.

I have experience from practising within the NHS working with G.P's, community charity services and private practise.

My degree is in Integrative Relational Counselling and was awarded by Middlesex University.

My practise is in the Weybridge area. I offer individual both long and short-term therapy.

Sessions generally last 50 minutes but can be tailored to client’s needs.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

What happens in the first session?

In our first session we can discuss what has brought you to therapy and look at what your expectations are and what you want to achieve.

You are under no obligation to continue with therapy after the first session.  It is a personal decision and I would encourage you to take as much time as you need to decide if you want to continue.

If I do choose to continue how many sessions will I need?

This is very individual and can be altered as therapy progresses.  Generally the number of sessions will depend on your needs and goals.  Some clients come into therapy with specific issues, while others seek support with a more general sense of unease or dissatisfaction.

Should you choose to move forward with a therapeutic relationship we can discuss further appointments and a suitable framework.
