About me

I am an integrative psychotherapist/ counsellor trained in a range of talking therapies to help overcome problems such as relationship issues, emotional difficulties, stress, depression, anxiety, self esteem, identity, spiritual crisis, trauma, PTSD and psychosexual issues.

My Approach

My approach to therapy involves exploring in depth your feelings, beliefs and thoughts, including but not always those from childhood. I will work with you so that you will gain a fuller understanding of the problems you face and then together we work towards a program of change which incorporates the use of various techniques suited to your needs.

Why Choose Me?

My professional and personal participation in sports and fitness, coaching and organisational development adds a unique aspect to my work as it enables me to integrate and work holistically with the mind, body, spiritual and systemic aspects of individual. I also work with couples and groups.

I offer short term, time limited sessions as well as more in-depth work over a longer period of time. My clients come from varying backgrounds, communities and professions; ranging in age, gender and ethnicity.

With extensive experience in life coaching and executive coaching I offer clients the space to integrate learning into action in such a way that honours each individuals' process as unique and valid. I believe what I am able to offer my clients is a relationship and space that enables change at a deep, meaningful and sustainable level. Given the often sensitive nature of the issues discussed in therapy I place an emphasis on developing a trusting relationship which is paramount to effective treatment.

My practice is in accordance with BACP and AC ethical guidelines

My Specialisms

As a trauma specialist I offer Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), a comprehensive therapeutic approach to working with traumatic experiences with the goal of reducing stress in the shortest period of time.

I have particular interest in working with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in relation to experiences of refugees, veterans, displaced individuals and groups.

I also have an interest in working with individuals who are particularly concerned with issues of difference such as gender, race, identity, cross cultural and interracial relationships, this extends into system issues in which we look at unconscious dynamics and the impact they have in the here and now experience.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
