About me

I work with adults, children and young adults on a short and long term basis.  In addition to working in the traditional therapy room setting, I offer outdoor therapy and mountain days in Snowdonia (see below for further information).

We all have times in our lives when things become difficult. Sometimes this is triggered by an external event, or it may be due to feeling that everything is too much. Therapy can help us to make sense of why things are the way they are, building on our strengths and enabling us to move forward freely. I work with a wide range of difficulties, including self esteem issues, depression, anxiety, pregnancy & birth related issues, self harm, abuse, relationship difficulties and life transitions, with people from all walks of life.

What you might expect to gain from working with me is insight, personal growth and the development of your inner wisdom; I believe that everyone has the capacity to grow and change, to work through issues such as depression, anxiety and low self-esteem. I believe that we can create the lives we want for ourselves and develop our full potential; it is a matter of learning to find our way.

I am particularly interested in working with depression and anxiety. I am using a research-based protocol from Transactional Analysis specifically for the treatment of mild to moderate depression and anxiety. TA therapy has demonstrated effectiveness that was comparable to other therapies which are recognised as empirically supported for the treatment of depression.  Typically, clients working in this way see significant improvements within 8-12 sessions of therapy.

As a trained doula, I feel passionately about supporting women through the transition of pregnancy and birth into motherhood. I have experience of supporting women through pregnancy related difficulties, birth trauma and postnatal depression.

Outdoor therapy & Mountain Days

Outdoor therapy is an alternative to working in the traditional therapy room setting. Rather than sitting inside four walls, we literally go outdoors to explore issues and problems in the natural environment. You set the pace - whether it be a brisk stroll, or sitting under a tree- you decide what works for you. Being alongside each other, literally and metaphorically, can feel like being on more of an equal footing. This can enable you to open up more and engage with difficult feelings, making your sessions more productive.

As a qualified Mountain Leader, I am also able to offer therapy mountain days in Snowdonia. Please get in touch for further information.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
