Sarah Genai MBACP, Registered Psychotherapist.
I am a BACP registered Psychotherapist and my practice is based in Bath.
I see a wide range of clients and work with issues that include anxiety, depression and bereavement, sexual abuse, rape and unresolved issues that arise from childhood.
You can book one initial consultation to talk about your current situation and any difficulties that you may be experiencing and we can decide together if I am the right therapist for you. We would then agree when to meet (day and time) and discuss confidentiality and fees. We will meet for some initial sessions, usually about 6 weekly meetings, and then decide together if meeting for longer will be helpful.
Training, qualifications & experience
MSc Relational Psychotherapy (Distinction)
BSc Hons in Psychology.
I have almost 30 years experience of working in the mental health field and working therapeutically in a wide variety of settings. I currently work part time within universities providing mental health support and mentoring to students on a weekly basis throughout their degree.
I have provided counseling in organisations such as a community mental health center and also within a charity providing longer term counseling for men and women who have experienced child sexual abuse and rape.
Equal opportunity and inclusive practice is of particular importance to me. My work is informed by an underlying systemic way of thinking therefore I do not see one individual as ‘the problem’ but rather look at the positions held within families, groups and relationships.
Areas of counselling I deal with
- Domestic violence
- Emotional abuse
- Low self-confidence
- Low self-esteem
- Passive aggressive behaviour
- Personality disorders
- Physical abuse
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
