Sarah Donnelly Fdsc MBACP

Hello, I am a qualified person-centred counsellor, offering confidential individual and couples therapy from a comfortable therapy room based in Hove. I would like to offer you the time and space to help you work through whatever issues you are facing in your life now or have experienced in the past which are possibly causing you unhappiness, anxiety, depression, leaving you feeling like you’re stuck or have little options.
What I offer as a person-centred counsellor in a session is non-judgement, openness and honesty. I will stay at your pace as it is your choice what you would like to share, all in a confidential setting.
Counselling Approach and how it works
Person-centred is a therapy based on the belief that every individual has the capacity to be forward moving and make positive changes to their life as well as their outlook upon it. This can be hard at times to see a way out of a dark place you are maybe in, but I feel having someone non-biased to hold you and help you along your way can be very encouraging to get your strength back and to help you gain a change of perspective.
What Person-Centred counselling offers is Empathy (myself getting into your world, putting myself in your shoes to see and understand your life from your perspective) Unconditional Positive Regard ( To regard you as you are, making no judgements or assumptions and being accepting of you as a person) and Congruence ( being open, honest and with you in the moment, sharing and offering you what I am seeing and hearing which you may not recognise in yourself.
A little bit about me...
I finished school and started a job as a manager of guest house's for the homeless.
I met many diverse people from all walks of life with all different stories, backgrounds and life experiences to share. I was in this position for three years and it was during this time that I realised I wanted to become a Counsellor.
I went on to complete two Counselling courses at Sussex Downs College, named, Introduction in Counselling Skills and Intermediate Counselling.
I later went on to complete a Foundation Degree in Fdsc Person-Centred Counselling with the University of Brighton and from this I have attended many training courses through my job as a Recovery Worker in mental health wellbeing such as A.S.I.S.T, safeguarding, equality and diversity and mindfulness to continue with my continuing professional development.
Please feel free to call/email me and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
Also Please note all calls and emails are completely confidential.
