About me

Hello and a warm welcome. I am an experienced Counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). I offer face to face counselling sessions to adult individuals from a confidential, safe and quiet  log cabin within the garden of my home set in the peaceful village location of Bardwell, 9 miles north east of Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. I also offer online face to face counselling via skype, skype chat and telephone counselling.

I am a caring, empathetic counsellor with a friendly, professional approach who is committed to your personal growth and wellbeing. I can offer you a safe space to talk over the things that are troubling you, helping you to understand those parts of your life that may be causing you distress and enabling  a clarity to move forward in the direction that you feel is best for you.

I know picking up the phone or emailing can be daunting and perhaps difficult and that you may have been thinking about it for some time and only now feel able to  take that step.  I will always answer my phone if I am able to and respond to emails as quickly as possible. Both my phones and email are confidential and messages can be left in confidence - please leave your message including your name and details of the best way to contact you.

Perhaps you are struggling with some of these issues - I will not be passing judgement, I am here to hear you;

* Depression     * Anxiety   * Low self confidence & self esteem

   * Relationship Issues        * Trauma   * Family issues

* Bereavement / Loss / Grief   * Sense of detachment

* Compulsive thoughts / behaviours  * Lack of purpose/direction in life

* Panic Attacks    * Effects of physical/emotional/sexual abuse

* Retirement / Redundancy / Employment issues

Whether you are struggling with inner feelings, a relationship or  problems at work or home, I am here to provide compassion, genuine acceptance and a safe place to be heard to help you deal with the issues facing you.

I will work with you to help you make sense of those difficult feelings, explore those changes which you feel would benefit you, helping you to fulfil your potential.

Free Initial Consultation session - I feel it is important for you to have the time to feel comfortable, to see if counselling could help you and to see if we can work together. There is no obligation to enter into a counselling contract after this session.  An initial consultation appointment is also your available counselling appointment day and time should you wish to enter into a counselling contract with me thereafter.

No referral is needed to contact me.
There can be times in our lives when we all just need a bit of space and peace to work out exactly why we are feeling this way, where our lives are and where we would like to be - having someone by your side in these times can bring about change quicker than struggling alone.

My predominant approach is Psychodynamic although I draw on all counselling approaches to inform and enrich my work. Short term and longer term individual counselling for adults available

PLEASE NOTE: If my profile is showing me as unavailable, the date shown when I will next be available is a guideline only and is subject to change. Please do feel able to contact me regarding waiting list availability.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
