About me

Welcome and thanks for considering me as an integrative therapist to help you get through your difficulty or distress.  Finding a way to work collaboratively is specially important to me; to explore together any personal thoughts and feelings - safely, without the risk of being criticised, judged, or shamed.

I am an integrative counsellor and have worked successfully with anxiety, bereavement, and depression and other mental states.  I help through relationship problems, LGBT issues, living with illness, or disability. Maybe you need help dealing with "overwhelm".  Life events, or loss can happen and become very distressing.   Having a counsellor give you full attention could be the next step forwards.

About me
Good therapy is likely when your therapist understands what pain and struggle feel like.   Becoming a therapist has been my journey to freedom.  Finding friends along the way to guide or goad me was most important!  Seeing my therapist was more so.

Training and experience have shaped some professional tools and vision.
I lived abroad travelled when younger, so enjoy different cultures, and am deeply interested in different religions.

I worked as a volunteer counsellor from 2005 and after training was awarded the Diploma in Integrative Counselling in 2011, and post graduate BACP accreditation.

How I work
As a humanistic integrative psychotherapist/counsellor, I work for you to reach for your own strength or solutions.  There are certain ingredients that make this possible.  Confidentiality and a feeling of trust are very importamt.  The counsellor needs to respond skilfully to you with understanding, empathy, and focus.

Ongoing sessions allow us to address life's obstacles at their roots.  Long term therapy will help you change in a lasting way.  You will be supported by an experienced therapist and counsellor, who gets to know you well.  This helps you find your own strengths, meaning in life, and soulfulness.

A short course of counselling therapy focusses around your issue, to find a realistic solution
Whatever is bothering you, feel free to meet me for an introductory session to discuss, or explore your needs, feelings and thoughts.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Key details

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

I can see people on the ground floor, with notification. There is a bit of a step over the threshold, but a lighter wheel chair can be brought over this.
