About me

It takes courage to seek counselling... I understand this and would like to reassure you; my priority is to ensure you feel valued, accepted and respected.

I understand and respect that each client is unique, has walked their own path, with their own story to tell... I feel privileged to be a part of that journey and aim to enable and empower my clients to make positive changes in their lives.

I have 18 years experience in Counselling & Psychotherapy.

My counselling qualifications are very thorough - above degree level. I hold a specialist PostGraduate Diploma in Counselling Children & Young People & extensive training & experience in Trauma Therapy for adults & children also. I'm currently furthering my Counselling Supervisor Training.

Before deciding to focus on my private practice, I was, for 9 years,  the West Mercia Specialist Therapist; providing specialist trauma therapy for child & adult victims of rape & sexual abuse, in crisis, across 4 counties; Shropshire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire & Gwent. Clients were often referred by West Mercia police at The Glade; forensic Sexual Assault Referral Centre, Worcester & Telford. I am highly experienced in pre-trial therapy.

I’ve been very lucky to receive recommendations in USA, Italy & Africa. Majority of my work is online working with clients across the UK & USA, Italy & Africa.

I also offer private counselling in Herefordshire & Worcestershire, for adults & couples, struggling with a variety of issues. I also offer specialist child counselling for children aged 4-11 and counselling for young people aged 11-21.

Although I specialize in trauma therapy, I have many years of experience in working with clients of all ages with a variety of issues. A brief outline of some of the issues I have experience in dealing with are below;

Acute trauma, chronic trauma, developmental trauma & complex trauma. PTSD, RRTSD. Military trauma and hostage situations.

Re-entry anxiety due to covid-19. Loss & grief due to covid -19. Generalised anxiety disorder, relationship issues, family issues, separation & divorce. Loss & grief. Work related stress & harassment, anger & low self esteem.

I have over 20 years experience in working within the mental health sector.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
