About me

I am a qualified and experienced counsellor with over ten years in private practice. I offer counselling for individuals and couples on a short or long term basis in a comfortable and peaceful setting based in Windlesham. I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association Of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and I strictly adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework in maintaining safe and ethical practice.I follow the integrative approach to counselling, which means I incorporate different theoretical approaches to my model, which I adapt to the individual needs of the client. I see clients for a wide range of issues such as anxiety, depression, difficulties in personal and family relationships and feelings of sadness or loss. You may have reached a time in your life when you feel 'stuck' or 'overwhelmed' and simply need a safe, non-judgemental place to feel truly listened to and where you will be met with empathy and understanding.

COUNSELLING

Counselling provides a safe space to look at the links between the past and present  and together we can explore how historical patterns of behaviour and core beliefs may be hindering your life now. Developing a deeper self-awareness can lead to change and personal growth. Working with the 'here and now' we can find the tools and resources you need to make changes, leading to a more contended life. I will be on your journey, listening and reflecting on your story and together we will find a path for moving forward. Counselling can be challenging at times but you will be in a trustworthy, caring and supportive environment where I hope you will feel safe to explore your thoughts and feelings with me.

COUPLES COUNSELLING

Couples therapy provides a safe and supportive space to explore issues and difficulties in a relationship and find a way to work through these problems to bring about change. Couples may be struggling with a wide variety of issues such as difficulties in communication, infidelity, a lack of sex and intimacy and navigating major life transitions. As important part of therapy involves exploring the impact of the past on both individuals and how it effects the relationship in the here and now. The aim of couples counselling is to help both individuals to reconnect emotionally and feel more secure and contended in their relationship. Some couples may decide that the safest and healthiest option is to separate and therapy can be an important part of this process. Most of the work will be done in the therapeutic space but couples will often be asked to do homework tasks between sessions.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
