Hello and welcome,
I'm Sarah, an experienced counsellor effectively using a combination of approach's to help clients explore their problems and issues. I work with a variety of people over the age of 18, ranging from different backgrounds and problems. I have lots of experience in most areas of counselling, such as relationship and communication difficulties, depression, anxiety, low self esteem and rape and childhood sexual abuse. So whatever your problems and concerns are, I'm here to offer support and provide a listening ear in a totally confidential and non judgmental way.
Whether your needs are straight forward practical help or a deeper exploration of yourself and your problems, your therapy will be tailored to meet those needs and delivered with genuine care and concern. I truly understand how difficult it can be to make that first point of contact, only then to share and explore difficult or painful issues with a stranger, although I also know how deeply rewarding it can be when supporting those who have worked through some of lifes most difficult issues, to come through the other side stronger and happier individuals, better equipped to deal with what has happened and what lies before them.
I offer my counselling service in a private location and in a warm, relaxed and comfortable environment. My aim is to help clients feel at ease so they may talk openly and honestly and share their experiences without the fear of judgement. I am very passionate, committed and dedicated to my work and business and clients are extremely important to me and will always be treated with respect. This is a completely confidential service.
I am a trained Rape and Sexual Abuse counsellor although I explore many other common issues such as relationship difficulties, grief and bereavement, domestic violence, identity issues and alcohol and drug problems, along with the many factors that accompany these issues, such as low self esteem, confidence, panic attacks, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), depression and anger.
My approach to counselling is underpinned by the Person Centred approach, which is a very effective form of counselling. When needed I use other techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic, Gestalt, Mindfulness Transactional Analysis or Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) to help maximise the effects of counselling. It makes sense that in order to solve a problem, whether it be physical, mental or emotional, success is more likely achieved when problems are tackled from their source rather than on symptomatic levels. That is when real changes can be seen.
