About me

There is no doubt that life can be overwhelming and challenging at times.  Counselling therapy is dedicated time, set aside by you and the therapist, to talk things through together.  It might involve thinking about life events, both past and present. It can empower you, by helping you, to understand yourself better. It can help you to re-evaluate things and turn perceived problems into personal growth.

Sometimes an individual may need support through a difficult time in their life by discussing coping strategies, other people might want to facilitate some change by setting personal goals.  I will work with you to identify your particular needs and together we will work towards an outcome that helps you to feel calmer and more in control.  As individuals we are different, and have different needs.  As an Integrative therapist I am able to draw on more than one type of approach in order to work in the best interests of my clients.  Whatever you want to achieve, I can offer a safe and confidential environment for you to discuss your thoughts, feelings & behaviours. Looking after you is my priority.

While working in private practice I have also gained experience as a Mental Health Champion for a local authority, promoting mental health awareness. I have worked for two agencies, Cruse Bereavement Care and Victims First, supporting victims of crime.  I have worked in two secondary schools and I also receive private insurance referrals from Bupa as well as EAP providers such as Health Hero and Health Assured.

I never fail to be amazed and inspired by the human condition and what makes us think and act the way we do. My goal as a therapist is to help the individual find their own clarity, seek their own path. My role is to walk beside my client along this, sometimes short, sometimes long journey. I look forward to meeting and working with you.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
