About me

Hi, I'm Sarah, BACP Accredited and Registered Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I am currently working face to face, online using Skype and Zoom, telephone and walking therapy are also available too.

Working together

At the heart of my therapeutic approach is our relationship and hope. Within a calm and confidential environment, collaboratively our relationship will be established and in time, will be built on honesty, trust, genuineness and mutuality.

I offer the chance for clients to be heard and not be judged. I will be alongside you to discuss and explore problems to help you, the client, to overcome them. I will actively listen and help you explore areas in your life that are troubling you.

Anxiety, relationship issues, depression, stress, isolation, low self confidence and family issues are faced by all of us at various times in our lives. The knock on effect is that it can effect our ability to cope and then the quality of life suffers. Taking back some level of control helps. Talking to someone impartial and professionally trained to offer you a safe and non judgemental space is the best way to help you get back on track.

Getting started

Online and telephone counselling can be just as effective and often more beneficial to clients as sessions take place in the comfort of your own home. If you have any questions or concerns about working in this way, please give me a call, or why not visit my website for more information.

Training, qualifications & experience

To become a Counsellor, I trained for three years at The Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute (affiliated with Coventry University) in Nottingham and I have a BSc (Hons) degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), which means I work in accordance with a strict ethical code, have regular supervision and attend a number of continual professional development workshops each year to enhance and develop my clinical practice.

Together with three other colleagues, I set up Nottingham Counsellors Group, a not for profit group providing training for therapists in Nottingham.

Additional information about me

A requirement of my professional training was that I undertook personal therapy myself. Over three years I explored my past and present ways of relating to others. I have confronted and explored areas of my past that have been painful. This has given me increased self awareness and insight.

I have experience of working with individuals of all ages and now specialise in adults. I appreciate it is sometimes difficult to name and categorise a problem and that sometimes problems overlap several areas. The areas of counselling I deal with listed above is purely a guide and does not include everything that I may be able to help you with.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
