About me

I am a fully qualified psychotherapist offering short, long-term and open-ended psychotherapy.

Typically my clients come to me looking for help with distress, anxiety and depression arising from an often complex mix of concerns such as bereavement, job loss, relationship difficulties, cultural displacement, abuse and trauma, inter-generational difficulties, infant and childhood experiences.

I recognise it takes courage to seek help and that choosing the right therapist can feel daunting. Please contact me if you would like to know more or would like to arrange an initial telephone consultation to talk through your concerns and how we might work together.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained at the School of Psychotherapy and Psychology, Regent’s University London, and am an accredited Psychotherapist and Counsellor. I am also an accredited Couples Therapy for Depression IAPT Practioner (Tavistock Relationships).

In addition to my private practice, up until June 2023 I worked as a counsellor in two NHS IAPT services (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies)  in the London Boroughs of Hounslow and Hammersmith & Fulham.

I am a member of the UKCP (United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapists) and a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy); I am committed to on-going professional development and training and I subscribe to and am guided by the UKCP and BACP codes of ethics for good practice.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Further information

My way of working:

There are many different approaches to psychotherapy. As an integrative psychotherapist I draw on a number of ways of working that emphasise and encourage increased self-awareness, understanding and personal growth. I am interested in how you make sense of your world, and how your thoughts and patterns of behaviours may impact on your relationships and day-to-day life. I'm also interested in your infant and childhood relationships and experiences as I believe these can offer clues to how and who we are in adult life.

At the heart of my work is the therapeutic relationship. I approach each new client with a compassionate and open mind, tailoring the work to fit your unique needs. Together, within the safety of a confidential, non-judgemental and supportive environment, we will explore your difficulties, your physical and emotional feelings, the challenges you feel you face in your life.

Often just being able to talk to someone new and unconnected with your life can, in itself, be a source of relief and comfort, and the start of a shift in thinking and understanding, which can lead to a more fulfilling life and enriching relationships.

Prior to training as a therapist I worked as an agent in the film and television industry.
