About me

Hello my name is Sara and I offer you a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental relationship to help you feel safe enough to embark on the courageous journey of therapy.

I am a fully qualified, experienced counsellor, offering time and a confidential, safe space where you can begin to explore any issues which may be concerning you.

Counselling is about helping you make sense of your thoughts and feelings, so that you can then make decisions about what, if any changes you wish to make in your life. I believe that each person is the expert on themselves and I am there to support and help people to find their own way forward at their own pace.

You may understand where your problems lie, or it may not be so clear, but you do know that you feel unable to cope as usual with everyday life.  I am aware that, at first, you might feel anxious or vulnerable about sharing personal aspects of your life with me. My commitment is to offer you a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space, where you can feel free to explore your experience of life and express your thoughts and feelings about the difficulties you are facing

Counselling is not a magic cure, but at times it can be difficult to talk to family and friends about how we are feeling, sometimes it can help to talk to someone neutral who is trained to listen with warmth and kindness and accept us for who we are. It is not about finding solutions, but more like untangling a knot: if you find the right ends and tug at them gently, things can start to feel better. Counselling can help to improve self-esteem and self-confidence or provide much needed support following a Bereavement, Divorce, Relationship difficulties, Illness or Redundancy.

I work from pleasant premises in Solihull offering daytime and evening appointments. My premises have car parking and I do try to accommodate clients with disabilities.

In addition to my private work, I have worked as a Counsellor in a large GP practise, as a specialist Bereavement Counsellor for Solihull Bereavement Counselling Service attached to Solihull Hospital, as a Trauma Counsellor for a large Crisis Management Organisation and as a workplace counsellor.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Key details

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
