Sara Gordon, MBACP, UUFdSc Counselling
Firstly, well done for identifying you have a need for counselling and beginning your search to do something about your situation.
I am a professional, qualified, integrative counsellor providing a counselling service in Ballymena and Glarryford. I am passionate about counselling and the benefits which can be obtained from it.
In 2007 my life was turned upside down when my husband died suddenly. I sought help from a variety of counsellors, some which helped a lot and some that I struggled to connect with. As I grieved and tried to make sense of my new life, and find solutions for myself and my young children, I felt counselling made me feel supported, pro-active and empowered.
As a result of my successful counselling I decided to leave my job and re-train as a counsellor in order to help and empower others, I also gained so much personally from the extensive training I received.
I offer one to one sessions addressing a variety of issues and problems, providing a confidential, comfortable, safe place for you to reflect and concentrate on yourself and your life experiences without judgement or pressure. I use elements from person centred, CBT and psychodynamic counselling approaches to tailor each session to meet your individual need.
I encourage you to move at your own pace and direct the sessions in the direction you feel most comfortable. I feel at the heart of successful therapy is the relationship between the client and counsellor. If you don't feel at ease with your counsellor it is time to find another one!
I can offer counselling appointments in either Ballymena or a rural location and also facilitate evening and weekend appointments.
I am a member of the BACP and adhere to their guidelines regarding my practice and ethics.
When you call to arrange an appointment you will speak directly to me, we can arrange a time and place which is suitable to you.
On arriving at your first appointment we will take a few moments to discuss a contract between ourselves and I will explain in greater detail a little more about myself and the service I deliver. When you feel comfortable and at ease, we can begin to build a therapeutic relationship with the aim of providing therapeutic change in your life.
I regularly attend ongoing professional development events, training and courses to ensure my skills and knowledge remain up-to-date. I also receive regular supervision.
