About me

I offer short or long term support for young people and adults struggling with, depression, stress, anxiety, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem and bereavement. PTSD. Addictions OCD

The chance to be able to understand our thoughts and feelings and how to make sense of them, enabling us to enjoy healthier relationships with our family friends and colleagues, within a safe and secure environment

Being honest about ourselves is hard to do and quite often we blame others for the way we feel. Expressing good and happy feelings is easy, especially if it pleases others. In our society we are discouraged in showing negative or sad feelings as it is seen as weak and intolerable, so harder to express, as these feelings only get negative reponses. Hiding how we really feel or not understanding why we feel a certain way can have adverse affects on our mind and body.
The journey of self-awareness can be a path to living a happier life. With a deeper understanding of the way we think, act and speak towards others can be liberating, enabling us to live a life that has true meaning and contentment.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

The reason why I became a counsellor started with my desire to find out more about human nature and the way in which the mind works, especially mine. I feel that the connection between the mind and body are inextricably linked. Therefore one affects the other! For example the very thought of unexpressed anger possibly creating a physical condition that affects our health seems almost hard to comprehend
My own childhood experience of growing up in a secure environment was traumatically changed at the age of 9 years old, with some of those memories remaining with me today.
My past is linked to my present life and impossible to separate the two. To be able to let go of some of those negative repeating patterns of behaviour that have been inhibiting me from leading a happier, more confident and contented life has been remarkable.
