Integrative Humanistic Counselling.
As an integrative humanistic counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy I work in line with its ethical framework in ensuring the safety and well being of all my clients. I work with a humanistic approach which includes person centred, gestalt and existential therapy. I also work with CBT in identifying behavioural patterns and TA therapy to strengthen my clients understanding in their relationships and everyday interactions. I have experience working with clients from ages 15 +. My previous experience includes working with bereavement, depression, self-harm, redundancies, low self-esteem, cultural and racial challenges, child abuse and rape.
Working with a humanistic approach means that I will treat each client as an individual. I aim to provide my clients with a safe space for reflection and exploration, in order to help them gain a deeper insight into the self and connection to their world in connection to their thoughts and feelings. I listen closely to what they have to say and works with whatever they bring into the room. This process can be helpful as it is non-judgemental and non-advisory. I strongly believe that we are experts of our own lives and by engaging in therapy clients are able to become the authentic versions of themselves.
With a strong background in working with homeless adults, families and adolescents, gang intervention, woman’s refuge and drugs and alcohol misuse, private clinic work, I am able to empathise and work with individuals from all walks of life who are struggling in their day to day due to their past and or current traumatic events, that can lead to unhealthy coping mechanism. I will work hard with them on their therapeutic goals and maintain a realistic outcomes to your treatment in therapy.
