About me

Whether you are looking for therapy for a particular issue or wanting something a little longer, talking to someone can be a powerful and life changing experience and at the same time taking the first step can be one of the most daunting things one can think of doing.

I have over 10 years clinical experience and I am trained in multiple therapeutic approaches which allows me to work in an integrative way. Meaning that in my therapeutic work I can tailor my style of working to fit in with each persons needs.

I do adhere to some basic principles which support my work. Firstly, it is fundamental that a good working relationship is established. Trust and safety create the foundations for therapeutic work to flourish, therefore I will endeavour to create an environment that will help you to address your concerns or interests.  In our first meeting, you and I will look at the benefits you hope to gain from therapy and how these can be achieved. In my therapeutic work my hope is that I can support and facilitate you to find a deeper understanding of your experience or difficulty which may be causing you distress or dissatisfaction. Through this exploration, you may notice an increase in awareness of your patterns of behaviour and thoughts, and by experiencing this change it may then help you to have more clarity about the options available and the possibility for change.

I work with the concept of  the ‘here and now’, in which I encourage an exploration of your present way of being in the world and in your relationships. By becoming increasingly aware it may lead you and I to look closely at your early relationships and the impact this is having on your present experience and relationships.

There may be times when I think that it will be useful to work creatively to help the therapeutic work. For example you and I may decide to use role play as a way of understanding a difficult personal relationship. It can be liberating to try something new in the safety of the therapy room and hopefully this experience will eventually give you the confidence to try your new skill outside the therapy room.

All the above ways of working have been part of my training, my therapeutic work and my own personal development, and I have experienced the benefits of applying the above ideas into my own journey.

I offer both long term and short term therapy. I have experience of brief work and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). In short term work I will establish the primary issue and use the sessions to address the concern. With a longer and open ended contract I work with the underlying issues that may be causing the difficulty. I see my role as supporting your process through feedback and facilitation and by suggesting creative methods that will encourage you to try something new in the safety of the therapy room.
