About me

Something on your mind ? Lost your way ? Need to be heard?   My name is Sandy and I'd like to help.   The decision to have counselling is the first brave step and choosing the right  counsellor is the second.  Both can be very daunting and whether counselling is helpful to you or not can depend (I believe) upon the counsellor you choose.

Before you have your counselling think about what it is you are looking for, do you want a more fulfilling life, do you want to improve your relationship with others or do you simply want to understand yourself better

Whatever your concerns I will offer your a warm and accepting welcome without judgement or prejudise and invite you to relax and experience what counselling can bring.

No two people are the same and counselling is as unique as you are and so our sessions will be tailored to suit you and your individual needs working in ways that are comfortable for you.  The relationship between counsellor and client is different from any other type of relationship where two people share a journey which can be powerful and empowering.   I do not have all the answers and there certainly is no magic wand but I am professionally trained to listen and support you in a safe, non judgemental confidential manner.

We cannot always put our issues into a "box" can we?  Sometimes it can be everything or nothing that is troubling us.  If you have something on your mind, if you feel you have lost your way or life is just too difficult right now, if you feel anxious, depressed or confused - whatever it is and you want some help, please contact me and lets get you the help you need.

Training, qualifications & experience

As well as being a qualified counsellor with an Advanced Diploma in Counselling, I am also qualified in Critical Incident Debriefing, Emotional Freedom Techniques, Reiki and as a Crisis Worker for Victims of serious sexual assault.

I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor / Phsychotherapist which means my practice meets the standard for a competent, ethical and independent practitioner and I continue to enhance my  knowledge and professionalism through continuous personal development.

I have gained valuable experience from my role as a counsellor - a role that I am passionate about.  I have worked for the NHS, Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue, Lincolnshire Counselling, Sexual Assault Referral Centre, Listening Ears Bereavement Counselling, University of Lincoln as well as my private practice.

If you would like to know more about me and how I work please visit my website or contact me via email or telephone.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
