About me

My Private Practice is situated in a beautiful and peaceful location, just outside Maidstone with private parking.

At times, we need a little extra support when life can feel as if it has been turned upside down, sometimes with no obvious reasons why. I work with you to explore what is happening in your life and how perhaps difficult past life experiences can affect you. Feeling depressed and or anxious often stems from difficulties with relationships and I work with you to help you explore this in a safe environment.

DIT ( Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy)

DIT is used in the NHS as a treatment for depression and generalised anxiety disorder, as recommended by NHS England.

DIT is a time limited therapy over 16 weekly sessions. The aim is to help you understand the connection between something that feels wrong to what is happening in your relationships, through identifying a core, repetitive pattern of relating to people that can often be traced back to childhood. Once it is identified, it will be used to make sense of what is happening in your life and that may be significant contributors to your anxiety and depression.

Counselling.

Thinking about counselling can be a daunting experience but perhaps by reading this you have taken the first step.  There is no obligation to continue after the first meeting but if you wish to, we will agree a day and time that works for you. Sessions are for 50 minutes and can go on for as long as you feel you need them. They typically take place on an agreed time and day each week, including evenings and weekends, subject to availability.

I have extensive experience in agencies, private schools, the NHS and private practice, working with all sorts of issues ranging from bereavement, generalised anxiety disorder, attachment disorders, depression, bullying, low self esteem, physical and emotional abuse, eating disorders, self harm and domestic violence.

I believe we all have the capacity to work through and take control of our lives in a more positive way.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
