About me

Sometimes in our daily lives and our relationships we repeat unhelpful patterns of behaviours that are so completely unaware to us, that we don't recognise anything is wrong until we start to feel that something isn't right any more. This usually happens when we start feeling down and unhappy; fed up, bored and angry; or even when we start to drink more alcohol, and/or withdraw from our friends and family. This is when effective counselling can be helpful to you.

My name is Sam Nutt-Hunt. I am an openly gay, qualified Counsellor in the Humanistic Therapies. I work with individuals using an Integrative, Holistic, Person Centred Approach, incorporating aspects of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Pro-Social Modelling, with Transactional Analysis Models as a tool to understand and promote communication. I use the Cycle of Change as a main tool in my work, alongside the assimilation of Self, as I am a passionate believer in the development of self-awareness for my clients as a powerful tool in empowering them to make the changes in their lives they want and need.

As a Counsellor I work in the here and now, in a relaxed and warm manner, maintaining safe and ethical boundaries. I use the above approaches to help you better understand how the events throughout your life have shaped you as a person, and how these have influenced your thoughts, feelings, reactions and behaviour - many of which you may be completely unaware of.

My role is to help you recognise the patterns of behaviours in your life that cause you discomfort and those that have brought you to counselling, to help you understand how these shape your life and your life choices so you can find the right solutions for making the changes you need to lead a more fulfilling and productive life.

Accredited register membership

I offer an initial meeting session, free of charge, for 30 minutes.

I offer hourly sessions and charge £35.

I do ask my clients to commit to at least 4 sessions to begin with, to give us enough time to build a relationship and evaluate the effectiveness of our therapy. Therefore I offer blocks of sessions at discounted rates: 4 sessions for £130 (£32.50 per session) and 6 sessions for £185 (£30.83 per session).

Please note these rates are non-refundable for any missed sessions.

Sessions are offered weekly at the same time each week, but I can offer sessions fortnightly for those clients who can not commit weekly.

Presently I practice on Tuesdays.
