About me

A Psychosynthesis Counsellor and Psychotherapist, and member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), I have an established practice in both Highgate (N6) and Whetstone&Totteridge in Barnet (EN5) where I offer affordable and confidential counselling for both individuals and couples in a comfortable and professional environment.  Meeting once or twice weekly for open-ended, or time-limited therapy.  I offer in-person and online meetings.

WHAT TO EXPECT: Within a confidential and peaceful therapeutic environment you are encouraged to talk openly and honestly.  Through our ongoing and regular meetings we will together work towards resolution and healing, helping you to gain a deeper understanding and kindness to the self that will help you to discover the potential to bring about much desired change and direction.

Some of the issues I work with include anxiety, depression, relationship and family issues, trauma & PTSD.

Qualifications
My initial psychotherapy training has been with The Institute of Psychosynthesis London. I have also subsequently studied with The Society of Analytical Psychology (SAP) London.

MEMBER of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (MBACP).

About Psychosynthesis
Psychosynthesis is a psychology of hope, with its eye not only on history, but also on a purposeful future giving individuals the capacity to reorient their lives in the direction of meaning and values. Psychosynthesis therapy helps you to gain a deeper understanding of your past and present, and helps you to know yourself more as you learn to trust your own feelings and thoughts. The therapy works at the level of both the personality and the soul, enabling you to find ways to work creatively with wounds and dysfunctions that have arisen during your life.

About Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy

This is the term that Jung gave to his particular form of psychotherapy.  Fundamental to Jung’s view of the psyche was that the mind and the unconscious could largely be trusted, and that it was all the time attempting to assist the individual; in this way he saw the psyche as self-regulating. Jung thought that even problematic symptoms, such as anxiety or depression, could be potentially helpful in drawing the individual’s attention to an imbalance in the psyche, for eg. if someone becomes depressed perhaps the way they are living their life means that they are not following a path that is natural and true to their particular personality. He understood this as being due to the purposive nature of the psyche. Jung also thought that the way that we see ourselves (our ego) is limited and that modern man has become cut off from his true, instinctual nature. He thought that we need to listen to ourselves and to come to discover who we really are and what we really feel. He came to believe that we need to be guided by what he called the self, which is an unconscious sense of the personality as a whole.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
