Samantha Kehoe-Ratcliffe Diploma in Psychotherapy
Is counselling the right option for you?
Life is not always straight forward and we can all find life a struggle at times. When we are faced with difficulties we can often experience feeling low in mood, anxiety, anger, resentment towards others and generally lost as to how we can change this. Many people can experience feeling stuck in life and with problems that they feel can't be resolved. This can be an isolating and overwhelming experience.
Counselling can benefit anyone who is wanting to make changes in their lives or to explore their thoughts and feelings in more depth. It can provide you with the time, space and safety to explore whats happening and give you the compassion, understanding and tools to help aid you to resolve problems and make changes. Asking for help can be daunting and difficult, but so can feeling alone, stuck and lost.
There are many reasons as to why people choose to have counselling, here is a small list to provide examples of why people feel they need to seek support from a counsellor. However it is important to remember that my service is not limited to cover these topics only.
- Relationship issues
- Panic Attacks
- Low Self Esteem
- Loss & grief

What happens next?
Once you have decided that you are interested in taking the next step and looking at counselling being an option for you. The next step would be to contact me via telephone, email or via my website. We can then arrange an appropriate time to have a conversation via telephone to discuss booking an appointment for an 'initial assessment'.
An initial assessment appointment will take 50 minutes. It's purpose is provide you time to explore as to whether you would like to commit to counselling and if its the right option for you. During the session we will discuss what is happening for you at this time, what my services can offer, provide you more information on what our sessions will be like and how we can work together. This will provide us with more of an understanding about each other and whether to commit to future sessions. This assessment is for exploratory purposes only and therefore does not commit you into continuing to use my services. If you decide at this time to commit to counselling then we will discuss what happens next and allow time for any questions you may want to ask.
