BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

My areas of interest are attachment and trauma. How we enter this life and the relationships we have had with our caregivers and partners in our past and present. How this affects our relationships in present day life.

I am interested in neuroscience and continue with my training and research in this area, helping with self understanding when working with client's. Giving insight to client's, about how we are affected by, anxiety, panic attacks, depression low mood and post traumatic stress disorder. How these conditions affect us both mentally and physically and how we can provide ourselves with tools to overcome and strengthen our inner resources.

ABOUT ME

I come from a retail background, also being self employed for many years, working with the general public. I studied counselling firstly, over 15 years ago, but was unable to commit to further training at this time in my life. I always had a passion to continue and when my life circumstances permitted I continued in training to become a fully qualified counsellor.

I have worked with children and young people in schools and trained in their related issues, for example; mental health and well being and attachment and trauma issues. Whilst training, I volunteered at a women's organisation in Manchester, associated with HMP and women at risk of offending.

I am passionate about my work, and working with difference, diversity and equality. with the full understanding and belief that each person has the right to find their happy medium in life, and to reach their full potential.
