Sally Mcloughlin MBACP
You've made the positive and most important step of starting the process of taking control to make changes in your life or of trying to explore and understand things a bit clearer, a process which can feel extremely daunting.
Now you've made this step, I would like to support you so you can continue to progress in a safe environment.
In counselling, it is all about the therapeutic relationship between you and the counsellor.
You need to feel comfortable and able to trust in your counsellor that you are going to be unconditionally accepted and not judged, that you are going to be genuinely listened to and understood, for the counselling process to work.
As a warm and empathic counsellor, I will do my very best, working alongside you, to build this relationship with you. I will give you time and space to recognise, explore and clarify your thoughts and feelings, to gain an understanding as to how and why they affect you as they do and to help you make choices about how to move forward, empowering you to take control of your future and to reach your potential.
My counselling approach is based on a person-centred model which means that, as a one-to-one talking therapy, the focus of the work is totally led by YOU, working at YOUR pace, tailored to meet YOUR needs, working with whatever it is that YOU need to explore.
I can help you with a variety of issues including anxiety and generalised anxiety, depression, relationship issues, abuse, anger issues, bereavement, confidence and self-esteem issues, stress related issues, loneliness and loss.
I can also offer support if you're just finding aspects of your life difficult, or if you are feeling generally stuck but not sure why.
I can absolutely guarantee that I will value you as an individual and that my approach will be totally professional and confidential and safe for you at a time when you may be feeling at your most vulnerable.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am qualified as a Person-Centred Counsellor to Foundation Degree level.
I currently combine my private practice with work in a GP surgery. Through both these avenues I have a wealth of experience with clients of all ages and with a wide-range of presenting issues.
I have several years of experience working with young people and adolescents through referrals via a local college of education and local independent schools.
I hold a general nursing qualification (RGN), a District Nursing Certificate and a Bachelor of Nursing Degree. Prior to counselling I worked for many years as a District Nurse and a Nurse Manager and as such I have been supporting people physically and emotionally for many years.
I am a member of the BACP and work to their Code of Ethics and ensure I receive ongoing training and maintain my personal and professional development through attending work shops and courses and through regular supervision.

I am very happy to be flexible to meet individual requirements and if you wanted a shorter or longer session then this can be arranged.
We can agree on regularity of sessions, again according to individual needs and to fit in around your work or other commitments. As such I'm happy to organise appointments in the evenings or at weekends.
I offer therapy to Counselling Students at a reduced fee.
Please email or call my mobile to arrange an appointment. Both are totally confidential and your privacy will be maintained at all times so please feel free to leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
I have the use of two counselling rooms, one in Wellington and one in Shrewsbury. Both have free parking, are easily accessible via train or bus routes and are suitable for disabled access.
I also regularly visit clients in their own homes if that is preferable (some people feel happier and in their comfort zone) so this can also be arranged.
If you have any questions at all then please feel free to contact me.
