About me

Sometimes the world can feel a very lonely place.

I offer affordable counselling in the centre of Stamford, for those who have been knocked off course or are facing problems or difficulties in their lives. These problems may feel overwhelming and it may be difficult/impossible to discuss them with friends or family.

I work one to one with individuals experiencing anger, frustration, isolation, anxiety and possibly feelings of worthlessness. These feelings are often a by product of situations from the past or the present and can also be connected to relationship issues, whether associated with the family, a partner, work or social situations. They can lead you to feel overwhelmed, exhausted and you may struggle to make sense of the chaos.

Whatever the issue, one of the aims of counselling is to help you develop a greater understanding of how you relate to yourself and others and by helping you to clarify your beliefs, thoughts, feelings and values.

In a respectful, non-judgemental environment, I offer you time and space, help and support, across all areas of counselling. I will listen carefully to you and will be understanding and accepting of you and your situation. This can enable you to begin to move forward to a happier and more contented life.

How I work

Some people find the confidence they want in just a few sessions, for others, or for long-standing issues and lasting change, an open ended arrangement can be more suitable.

About me

I have worked with all the diversity that is a product of the Custodial system, working with inmates in an all male cat C prison over a period of 5 years. I have since been in private practice for over 16 years.

Quote by unknown person, 1990 BC
"To whom can I speak today? I am heavy laden with trouble, through lack of an intimate friend."

Emotional loneliness, pain and confusion is nothing new...!

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
