Do you want to feel calmer and more in control of your life? Would you like a more solid foundation of confidence and self-belief? I specialise in anxiety, stress and self-esteem issues. Many of my clients are high achieving, professionals who outwardly seem functioning and confident, but who have times when life feels like a continual struggle. You may be aware that you have a lot to be grateful for, and to other people, you may seem confident and successful, but you can't seem to find peace of mind or contentment. Personal therapy isn't an indulgence - it benefits all the people who love and depend on you. It is possible to make signficant and long-lasting changes in a short amount of time - I have seen it happen!
I offer a confidential, non-judgemental environment where you can say the 'unsayable'. It's also a place where you can pause and reflect, switch out of 'doing' mode for an hour, and think about what really matters to you, and what you want from life.
A good therapist is more than just a kindly listening ear. I’m an integrated therapist, which means I work with several techniques that complement each other. One-size does not fit all when it comes to therapy, so I aim to offer a bespoke service for each client, based on my training in psychodynamic counselling, cognitive behavioural therapy and personal development coaching. As a fully qualified counsellor who is also trained as a personal development coach, I am committed to helping clients reach their potential and live their best life. For some clients, that means simply using the time to explore their thoughts and feelings. But I also work with a number of techniques, tools and processes for those who would like a more directive approach.
Finding the right therapist for you is crucial. I abide by the BACP code of ethics which means I am committed to working safely, ethically and confidentially. But it's also important to feel comfortable with your therapist and understood by them. Part of the purpose of an initial assessment is for you to get an idea of whether you feel you could work with a counsellor. I am also happy to have a preliminary phone conversation, free of charge, to help you decide whether it would be useful to book an assessment. You are also very welcome to email me if you have any questions.
Training, qualifications & experience
Like many others working in this field, psychotherapy is a second career for me. After a successful career as a journalist, I started training as a counsellor part-time in 2007 and have since qualifying in 2013, I have combined client work with my media work. I regularly write about emotional and psychological health for the national media but please be assured that I never reveal details of any client.
