About me

I hold a passionate belief in the Person Centred Approach and I offer Client Centred Therapy. This means that I will not direct you or hold any judgements about you or any issue you may wish to explore in counselling. I believe and it is my experience (personal and professional) that if a person can talk freely and openly without experiencing judgement and that you experience (my) unconditional empathic understanding then you will feel able to identify any changes you may wish to make in your life, come to an acceptance of yourself and your experiences and feel freer to be You. As a person centred counsellor it is my intention to walk alongside you and share in your experiences, whatever they may be. I am happy and comfortable to accompany you in your own journey and therefore I endeavour not to make suggestions or give advice. I firmly believe that each of us is our own best expert.

I work both as an individual counsellor with Young People and Adults and as a Counselling Supervisor.

Training, qualifications & experience

BSc (Hons) Combined Health Studies 2000
Diploma Higher Education in Person Centred Approach Counselling and Human Relations 2009
Post Graduate Certificate in Person Centred Supervision 2014

Current studies: MSc Person Centred Approach Psychotherapy and Applications. Metanoia Institute London.

Pre Counselling my career was in Forensic Mental Health Services, I was a registered nurse for people with learning disability and my work focussed mainly on talking therapy.

Worked for 10 years in a Secondary School as a learning mentor and later as a Counsellor.

I have also worked as a voluntary associate counsellor in a University and later as a mature practitioner, together with managing a counselling service for a Young Persons health project.

For the last 4years I have worked in private practice as a counsellor and since 2014 a counselling supervisor.

Alongside my counselling practice I also facilitate counselling training - Introduction, Certificate and Diploma training in Person Centred Counselling and prior to this I worked as a counselling tutor for a West Yorkshire College.

In accord with my belief that we are each our own best expert, I ask that room fees are covered (usually between £10-£15), other than this I ask that you decide what you would like to / can pay for your counselling.

Sessions last 50mins and are generally at the same time each week.

For supervision, my fees are £35 per hour for qualified counsellors and £25 per hour for trainees.
