About me

I am an experienced and HCPC registered clinical psychologist with extensive NHS experience in addition to my own private practice. I offer assessment and psychological interventions to clients with a broad range of needs.

My clinical work is diverse and includes:

  • anxiety disorders including phobias, social anxiety, OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) and GAD (generalised anxiety disorder)
  • depression and low mood
  • post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • severe and enduring mental health problems (including working with people diagnosed with personality disorder and bipolar disorder)
  • recovery from abuse including childhood sexual abuse
  • adjustment to physical health conditions including chronic pain and cancer
  • medically unexplained symptoms such as fatigue, pain and non-epileptic attack disorder (NEAD)
  • insomnia and other sleep disturbances

I also have a particular interest in working with adults who have or may have an autistic spectrum disorder.

In my therapeutic work, I draw on a range of evidence-based approaches particularly cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) and mindfulness based CBT approaches such as dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and compassion focused therapy (CFT). I am also trained in EMDR (eye-movement desensitisation and reprogramming) which is a NICE (National Institute for Clinical Excellence) recommended therapy for PTSD.

I offer group-based psychological skills courses that draw on mindfulness and other complementary approaches.  I also supervise both psychology and non-psychology colleagues who undertake psychological work and offer consultancy on psychological issues. I have experience in teaching and training and have devised and delivered a range of training workshops on topics including: introduction to mindfulness, looking after yourself at work, motivational interviewing in health care settings, managing low mood and anxiety and managing anger.
