About me

I am a qualified and experienced psychotherapist and supervisor. I have over 15yrs experience working with individuals, couples, and families both in the NHS and privately. I also provide clinical supervision to psychotherapists, counsellors and trainees.

I help people to explore the issues that bring them to therapy. It is through this process that change can be effected. The process can be short-term and target-focused, or longer-term and more exploratory. I tailor my approach to the individual.

There are no limits to what can be discussed in therapy. What is important is that the therapy offers an individual the possibility of looking at aspects of themselves and their lives that have hitherto been difficult to look at. In therapy the process of self-examination and change is made possible by the therapeutic relationship: the all-important relationship that develops between a therapist and a client.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have an MSc is Systemic Psychotherapy and a Diploma in Supervision. I am qualified to practice EMDR, and am a registered member of UKCP and BACP.

I specialize in conditions such as PTSD and Dissociative Disorders. This work generally deals with past traumatic experiences. However, I also work with clients experiencing a wide range of other difficulties, including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, work-related problems, sexual identity difficulties, and low self-esteem.

As a systemic psychotherapist I work with couples and families, as well as with individuals. In addition to extensive experience working with adults, I have worked in the NHS as part of CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service) and in an adolescent in-patient psychiatric service. I now have a private practice and work with any issues that an individual or family is troubled by.

UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
