About me

I am a UKCP accredited Gestalt Psychotherapist working privately in Shoreditch in East London. I first started seeing clients in 2009 and I have worked with a broad range of people and different issues.

I have professional experience working in a range of settings, including the NHS, higher education and the third sector. In addition I manage specialist services for a charitable organisation which supports the survivors of brain injury.

What is Gestalt?
For me Gestalt therapy offers a refreshingly different way of relating to yourself, your environment and other people. Gestalt is a humanistic/existential therapy, based on the belief that people have all the necessary abilities to solve their problems and difficulties and lead satisfying, creative, vibrant lives. However, sometimes we get suck and need some assistance. I see my task as a therapist to help you see more clearly what your situation is, find out how you are a part of it, and experiment with finding new solutions or ways to face your difficulties.

To get a sense of how I work, and what our work together may involve, please feel free to contact me for  an initial consultation with no obligation to continue. I offer initial consultations at a reduced rate of £30 per 50 minute session.

Training, qualifications & experience

Training and Qualifications

I trained at the Metanoia Institute in Ealing and was awarded a Master's Degree in Gestalt Psychotherapy accredited by the University of Middlesex. I have a Postgraduate Degree in Psychology from London Metropolitan University as well as Master's and Undergraduate Degrees in English Literature from the University of St Andrews. I am a UKCP accredited Psychotherapist and adhere to their ethical framework.

In addition to my core training I have attended a range of seminars and workshops, highlights from the last 2 years include:

Sex & Sexuality Following an Acquired Brain Injury

Making Trauma Therapy Safer
Professional Development for IAPT

Clinical Experience

I initially started seeing clients for individual psychotherapy sessions in 2009 and have experience working with individuals and groups from different cultures, backgrounds and physical abilities and with a wide range of presenting problems, including depression, anxiety, relationship problems and lack of confidence.

Today, I work one day in private practice, one day as a specialist psychotherapist and three days managing the Day Service at Headway East London. At Headway I manage a multi-disciplinary team providing day services for people with an acquired brain injury. Here I also facilitate a weekly psychotherapy group and run staff and volunteer training.
