About me

Welcome to my profile. I am a warm, creative and experienced counsellor based in chingford. Are you feeling anxious, depressed, having problems with relationships or your self esteem ? Maybe you are aware of a need to be really listened to, valued, understood and accepted ?

I offer a confidential and safe space to both adults and young people 18 + for short and longer term work. My approach is Integrative, which means that I am skilled at using a variety of counselling interventions so that sessions are tailored to meet your individual needs.  I have experience in working with a wide range of presenting issues.

Working through your thoughts and feelings within the context of a supportive counselling relationship can lead to a re evaluation of ways of thinking and being, so that changes and choices can be made to help you to live a more fulfilling life.

Change of any kind can often seem daunting but together we can aim to get to the root of  problems, find creative solutions and overcome obstacles to your growth.

Research demonstrates that the single most significant factor in predicting the outcome of therapy is the relationship between therapist and client.

I am committed to that relationship and to helping you to explore, express and untangle aspects of yourself that may be painful, uncomfortable or confusing. It often helps and can be easier to speak to a person who is impartial and separate from your friends and family.

I have 20 years experience as a counsellor, having worked in educational  settings, the voluntary sector, the NHS, as well as in private practice. I am also registered to provide counselling and psychotherapy under the following private healthcare schemes: Aviva Health and Pru Health.

Appointments are available during the day/ evenings, in person, by telephone or zoom.

Please contact me either by email or telephone initially. I have an answer phone and will always return your call.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have full Professional Liability Insurance, am registered with the UKCP and am an Accredited menmber of  BACP. I hold an Advanced Diploma in Person Centred counselling.

I gained a Certificate in Integrative Counselling in 1999, an Advanced Diploma in Person Centred Counselling in 2003, and became an Accredited member of the BACP in 2006.

I have extensive post qualification experience and regularly attend courses and workshops to ensure that my practice is up to date.

This enables me to work integratively which means that I am able to draw on ideas and theories from a Person Centred, CBT,  Existential, Transpersonal and Psychodynamic approach to psychotherapy and counselling where appropriate .

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
