Profile

I am an experienced and professionally qualified counsellor and an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.  I work with adults, young people and couples, as well as working jointly with parents and their children

I have experience working with a wide variety of issues in my private practice and in the voluntary and educational organisations that I work within. 

In my private practice, I offer a safe and confidential place for clients to explore their thoughts and feelings that might be worrying or unsettling them or causing them any difficulties within their lives.

Sometimes people are unsure about what is troubling them but are feeling confused, misunderstood or unhappy. Counselling can help you work out what the issue might be and gives you a chance to express yourself and find out more about what is right for you. By gaining a deeper understanding of yourself the intention is to help you develop a more fulfilling quality of life.  

Depending on what is right for each individual client I work long or short term.  This is something that we would discuss in the first session. 

Sessions last for one hour and usually take place on a weekly basis.

Appointments are available for the day or evening. Occasionally I see clients at weekends.

Fees

I offer a free initial assessment session to discuss how we might work together.

Thereafter my fees are:

£40 for individuals
£50 for couples

I have a limited number of low cost sessions available and I offer a discount to students.   


I am at the moment training as a supervisor at Strathclyde University. I am offering low cost supervision whilst I am in training.  Please email me for further details.

Further Information

My practice is situated in the centre of York within the City Walls close to Micklegate Bar. It is only a few minutes' walk from York Railway Station and all major bus routes.  There is plenty of free car parking available. 

I have full professional indemnity insurance through Towergate Professionals

I receive regular supervision as part of the requirements of my membership of the BACP
