Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

Getting Started
I accept self-referrals as well as referrals from other health professionals, solicitors and insurance companies. You can call me on 07948872907 initially. I offer a free 15-minute telephone or Zoom consultation. Following this, we would arrange a mutually convenient time to meet for an initial assessment on zoom or face to face. This normally takes 50 minutes and will give you a chance to decide if you would like to work with me.
If you decide to come to me for therapy we would normally meet once a week for 50 minutes at the same time and in the same place face to face in Dalston Kingsland, Hackney or on Zoom but this is flexible.

The therapy is open-ended and you decide when you want to finish but I ask that you agree to have a final session so that we can sum up the work we have done together and have a proper ending. If you prefer to work on a particular issue in a time-limited way, we can agree on a set number of sessions or a block booking which can be extended if you wish.  I also offer single-session therapy if that is appropriate.

Initially, we will discuss your previous experience or expectations of therapy and what you wish to focus on and work out some goals for the therapy together.

If you are looking for couple therapy, I will involve both of you from the beginning. I consider the relationship between you as my client and I would not normally see you separately. I am an accredited psychosexual and relationship psychotherapist. I am have also done Imago and Gottman training.

I am a sex-positive psychotherapist working with LGBTQ+ and consensual non-monogamy relationships as well as relationships that involve more than two people and consensual kink and BDSM.
