Rolain Bradbeer Dip, MBACP
65 Brunswick Road
Hello my name is Rolain I am currently based in the city of Edinburgh and I have a diploma qualification in Counselling/Psychotherapist. I am registered with the BACP, currently working towards accreditation.
I spent my training working with trauma survivors of sexual abuse. I continue to work in that field with Safe Space in Dunfermline. My experience working at Safe Space has helped me to also meet a diverse range of client ages, sexual orientation, and issues. My personal life experience has given me a rich basis of body knowledge, and understanding of the theory that I now work with, which is the Person-Centred approach. I have a very natural sense for this kind of work, plus other methods such as self - compassion, grounding, and other means like art and creative writing to help support the process of change or acceptance of the current issues or situation.I am currently working as a volunteer at the Junction Youth Centre which is based in Leith. I have also worked for a term in Trinity Academy School, also based in the Leith area. The experience has helped me develop knowledge and an approach to counselling children between the ages of twelve and eighteen years of age.
When I am not counselling I do youth work with music as well as my own personal music. I also practice hobbies like martial arts and Yoga. These things in my life really help to support me emotionally, which in turn I feel helps me to be a better practitioner.
What Is Counselling/Psychotherapy, How Might it Help You?
In laymen's terms counselling /psychotherapy is an opportunity to explore problems or issues in your life. These may be either from the past, or present moment. I would hope the process would offer a chance for you to be really heard and, hopefully, to be understood. This may help you to get a better knowledge, or awareness of yourself and the environment you live in. This, in turn, may change the way you see things, which could help change the relationship you have with the issues you bring, be it exploring with you to find a solution for the problem, or help you to facilitate the learning of strategies that may help you cope better with whatever you are facing.
What I Can Offer You
I am willing to work with my clients in a flexible way, in either short or long term face-to-face therapy. I would even be comfortable with working via Skype, Skype messenger, or email. If people have severe cases and are unable to travel I may be able to agree to home visits, this would have to be explored and negotiated.
