I am a fully qualified Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, and I work with a wide range of issues.
I provide a private and confidential space, within which I hope we can work together to explore whatever concerns or difficulties you might be experiencing
These might be concerns arising from recent events, or long-standing issues that you feel are preventing you from fully engaging in your life.
People often work with me when struggling with things like:
- Panic attacks
- Anger management
- Feeling sad or low
- Self esteem/confidence
- Difficulties at work
- Parenting issues
- Relationship problems
- Worries about sexual matters
- Compulsive behaviours
- Abuse and its aftermath
How do I work?
My approach to therapy and counselling is psychodynamic, and this acknowledges that the past has an impact on your experiences and feelings in the present.
Psychodynamic theory suggests that important relationships and experiences, perhaps from early on in your life, have an effect on how you are feeling in the present.
By understanding and examining these early relationships and experiences, present day emotional distress (like depression, anxiety, sadness, anger and fear) can be better understood and then worked through.
Sessions are at the same time, and on the same day each week.
I offer open-ended long-term psychotherapy where you and I work together to understand you at a greater depth, and over time. This work is open-ended and gives you the time and space to gradually learn more about yourself.
I also offer short term counselling and therapy, which is typically 12 sessions, where you and I might try and focus on one particular issue that you are having difficulty with.
Your sessions with me are private and I offer a non-judgemental environment where you can bring whatever is distressing you.
How to begin
First, please call, text or email me to set up an initial session. During the week, I will reply within 24 hours.
We can then have a brief phone conversation and/or arrange an initial consultation to meet each other, talk about therapy and think about working together.
