About me

Government guidelines permit travelling to and visiting mental health providers during this lockdown. I offer a place with procedures to make your face-to-face vest safe. I also offer online sessions.

Hello, I am Robert and I am an experienced and qualified counsellor and psychotherapist.

These times are difficult for everyone, but more so for some. Young people often find this epidemic particularly stressful. If you, or yours, are struggling with the current situation, talking to someone trained as a counsellor and psychologist may be helpful. Telephone or video consultations have helped many clients thus far. If you would like to have an initial session, without commitment, to see if you may get some benefit, please feel free to contact me.

What I Offer:
I can offer you a warm and empathic counselling approach, within a comfortable safe environment based in Cheltenham. I offer you a means of understanding yourself and finding solutions.

What I Believe
I am a strong believer that each of us ought to be the expert regarding our own thoughts, feelings, emotions and everyday processes. You may well have a strong sense of what you are currently struggling with, but you maybe cannot name or understand it right now. You know what it is that you do not want to feel or experience in your life anymore, but you maybe do not know how to go about making the necessary changes, or even where to begin. It is my fundamental belief that each of us has the potential to progress forward, to make positive changes and to gain a clearer perspective of ourselves and our lived. This goal is supported by the therapeutics relationship built and created between the counsellor and client. I will offer a safe, supportive, non-judgemental, professional approach that will value you as an individual.

How I Can Help, Have Helped
Sometimes, issues, events and situations from our past or present can stay with us and end up negatively impacting on our well-being today. Are you experiencing difficulties that are currently having an impact upon your relationships, job, happiness, well being and everyday life? I have helped adults survivors of childhood sexual and/or emotional abuse, individuals suffering form long and short term anxiety disorders and panic attacks, those struggling in relationships, sufferers from depression and hopelessness, victims of loss and individuals who struggle day to day coping

What's Important
It is important to have psychologically space without feeling judged, so that we can explore what it is that may be negatively impacting on our lives. My training and experience has taught me that I can help others by offering empathic, non-judgemental and non-directive approach. I will work with you at your pace and with the issues you feel comfortable sharing. I will support you by helping you to make sense of why you feel the way you do, and to discover what it could be that has triggered your current emotions, thoughts and feelings.

During these unsettling times, I want to assure you that if you need support but are unsure of going out, I have years of experience as an online counsellor, both through video conferencing and telephone. I am offering a 50% discount for those of you who have been affected economically by job termination or having your income cut. These days, more than ever, we need to maintain our mental health resilience. Feel free to contact me with any queries or concerns.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
