I am a Counsellor and Psychotherapist, with UKCP and mBACP accreditation, I am happy to provide confirmation of any qualifications and professional accreditation. I trained at the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy in Paddington, London and I graduated in 2007.
How I work
Longer term psychotherapy work - My orientation is psychodynamic and transpersonal. I am drawn to the work of Carl Jung, his insights and teachings. I believe one of the aims of Counselling and Psychotherapy is to address imbalance in one's life or psyche.
Shorter term psychotherapy work - My orientation is mainly drawn from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Transactional Analysis frameworks. I don't apply one model and I will discuss and agree with you what is best and given the presenting issue. In this way of working we will agree aims of working and review at regular intervals. I am a keen advocate of short term work and as CEO for an organisation which provides over 1,000 sessions in year in England, I see the positive impact of this type of work.
What I can offer that is different
In my work I also integrate over 10 years management experience, including my current role as CEO at the Counselling Foundation. For some clients, particularly professionals, this experience coupled with my clinical training, allows me to be uniquely placed in understanding the day to day issues clients face, whether in the work place, home-life or social sphere. I also draw on my experience in business and as a team leader to offer clients practical solution focussed tools and techniques as well as long term psychotherapy.
I also support high performing individuals, who are seeking my support to improve their business or leadership skills through work on themselves, or to manage work based problems which they identify reflect concerns in their personal life. Client feedback that I am approachable, use minimal therapy language jargon and make my work accessible to people who are new to psychotherapy.
By offering practical short term tools which clients can use and practice day to day, alongside in-depth psychotherapy work, this balance helps clients work towards 'getting some issues progressing' more quickly, whilst offering a grounded and safe working therapeutic space.

Training, qualifications & experience
A focus and interest in the creative processes
I have particular interest in working with clients to help them access and realise the potential of their creativity. In today’s pressured environment, we are taught to rationalise and intellectualise our problems, often ignoring our inner creative resources in overcoming challenges. During structured sessions, we can work to decode dreams as well as explore the conscious and unconscious thoughts and feelings in writing, symbols and art.
I also work with meditation techniques which can prove a helpful tool for clients who suffer from anxiety, or as a way of building space into one's life, and help gain greater reflection and more effective decision making.
Other associated training
I graduated in 2007 and have undertaken further training in Integrative Psychotherapy, short-term cognitive work including NLP, loss and bereavement counselling, and depression.
Relevant professional experience
With a BSc in International Management and French, I worked in Corporate Banking for six years before moving on to managerial positions within national UK charities.
Currently, I hold the part-time position of CEO for The Counselling Foundation. The organisation has 5 centres, with over 30 staff, 80 counsellors and we deliver over 15,000 affordable counselling sessions across Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire each year.
The organisation provides affordable counselling to people across Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire, and are also one of the principal providers of short term counselling services to the NHS in these areas. We also run a post graduate training in psychodynamic training from our St Albans and Bedford centres. The Counselling Foundation delivered over 15,000 sessions in 2011. You can find out more at www.thecounsellingfoundation.org
As a bilingual speaker, I also offer sessions in French.
