About me

As a qualified counsellor with over 15 years experience, my aim is to promote the emotional health and well-being of my clients. If you are currently experiencing difficulties in your personal or work life and notice these issues are effecting your physical and emotional well being then perhaps the time has come to talk to someone. I have worked in a variety of settings including GP surgeries, bereavement services and secondary schools, and my experience has shown that sharing your feelings and thoughts with a friendly, practical and trustworthy counsellor is likely to lead to positive change, greater understanding and a happier, more fulfilling life.  I have also worked on research projects in the effectiveness of counselling in secondary schools.

I believe in the importance of the counselling relationship and will provide a safe and nourishing environment to give you the space and support to help identify areas you are finding difficulty with. I have many years experience and have worked with a wide variety of issues for example: - feeling low, addictions, anger, anxiety, bereavement, gender identity, and loneliness. At the end of a therapeutic relationship, I hope that the people I meet have regained some balance, energy, perspective and a new sense of direction.

Counselling will give you the opportunity to discover new healthier ways of being and to let go of past experiences and help you to move forward with your life.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a BA in Person Centred Counselling and a a post-qualification diploma in Adolescent and School Counselling. I have completed various trainings in psychodynamic, CBT, Addictions and Eating disorders. I am also a trained bereavement counsellor. My approach is tailored to what each individual brings to therapy, and I offer a safe and confidential space to explore what’s on your mind in your own time and at your own pace.

I offer both short and long term therapy, and work one to one with adults and young people.

I have experience of working in GP practices, bereavement services, schools and sixth form colleges. I also run a private practice in Hadley Wood.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
