About me

I am a BACP accredited counsellor with over 15 years experience working in voluntary and statutory organisations. During this time I have developed specialist skills and knowledge in the following areas:

addictions -individuals affected by drugs, alcohol, prescription drugs, gambling, internet, shopping addictions, and also family members affected by someone else's addiction.
anxiety & depression
anger management
confidence & self esteem issues

stress- in personal life and also in the workplace
suicide - suicidal ideation, and also for those affected by suicide
trauma & PTSD
grief & loss
unresolved issues from the past / childhood
I also work with clients around life transitions & change.

I offer one to one counselling in a private and confidential setting conveniently located just off the Lisburn Road in Belfast.

I am a humanistic psychotherapist / counsellor, and use an integrative approach to counselling. This enables me to tailor my approach to create a model that best suits each individual client. I aim to offer a confidential, non-judgemental environment so that you are free to explore any issue you choose and at a pace that is comfortable for you.

Our initial session offers an opportunity to discuss what brings you to therapy and to see if we might work together. Research shows again and again that the effectiveness of the therapy or counselling is affected by the relationship you have with your therapist or counsellor. It is therefore important that you find someone who you feel comfortable with and who you can build a trusting relationship with.

If you choose to engage in counselling we can agree a time-scale of sessions appropriate to you and review this on a regular basis to ensure you are getting your needs from therapy met.

There are many reasons why people seek counselling.  Whether you are experiencing a problem for the first time, or have been struggling with long-term difficulties it can be of real benefit to talk with a counsellor.  Talking to someone confidentially who is not a friend or family member can make all the difference, allowing you an opportunity to focus on you and your needs without having to censor or worry about the impact it may have on family and friends.
