About Me

My original training was in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, over the years I have completed further professional development training in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT); Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) and a specialism of working with Trauma.

I have over 15 years’ experience of working as a Psychotherapist and Counsellor in the voluntary, educational, corporate and private sectors.   I have experience of working with clients both long and short term and I also deliver  Employment Assistance Programmes (EAP) too local companies which involves working with employees struggling with work related issues.

I am a Director of a thriving private practice in Leicester City called Rutland House Counselling and Psychotherapy Ltd and I am experienced in managing a large team of therapists and making clinical recommendations.

I offer an initial consultation, which is also an opportunity to assess whether my style of working is for you. My aim is to help individuals and couples address the causes of their problems, reduce symptoms and move forward in life. I can work with most issues including relationship difficulties, low self-esteem and confidence, unresolved childhood issues, abuse, body image issues, anger management, depression, anxiety, stress and work-place difficulties.

I can genuinely say I really love the job I do and feel very passionate about my profession, and most importantly I know therapy is an effective method for positive change. I am a qualified clinical Supervisor which enables me to supervise the clinical practice of both trainees and experienced counsellors/Psychotherapists.

I enjoy making a positive contribution to my profession and I am appointed as vice chair of the  British Association for Counselling and psychotherapy (BACP) private practice division.

About Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

DBT is designed for those who have a diagnosis of BPD and EUPD and those who struggle with high levels of distress and emotional dysregulation. It is an effective evidence based approach that has shown to manage symptoms and lead a better quality life.

The therapy compromises of a weekly online skills group which we run on Tuesdays 11am-12:30pm. We teach Mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation and interpersonal effective ness skills. We cap the group at a maximum of 12 clients, and the group is a safe supportive space. We also offer individual DBT sessions that run alongside the group.  If you would like further information please email the practice on info@rhcp.org.uk .

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
