About me

I am a fully qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist therapist offering individual, couple and family counselling in a private practice in Guildford.
At times life can be unexpected. You may find that you have lost connection with others, you argue more, or have less time and not as much in common with people you used to shared interests with. Perhaps you have lost trust in someone you have had a close relationship with, you feel hurt, betrayed or you just don't know what to do. Experiences like this can be overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be and you don't have to face these alone.

My priority is to provide you with a supportive, safe and confidential space so you feel comfortable to talk about things that are on your mind.  Working alongside you, we can find ways to understand and address any difficult  issues you may be dealing with. This includes exploring solutions in response to your specific and immediate concerns, as well as supporting you in gaining a deeper understanding of yourself and others around you enabling you to move forward and work towards your desired change.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist, registered and accredited as a member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). I have been working in a therapeutic setting with individuals, couples and families for the last 15 years.

Having completed both a Master Degree in Relationship Therapy, in addition to a Master Degree in Integrative Counselling and my undergraduate Bachelor study, enables me to draw on many frameworks and tailor my approach depending on your unique issues.

My main therapeutic modalities include Psychodynamic and Systemic but I also draw from many other models, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis and Expressive Therapies.

How I work is based on focusing on helping individuals, couples and families to unravel and understand their deep-rooted feelings. This will help us to find ways to move forward within a supportive environment. I work alongside you to explore your thoughts, feelings, values and beliefs and how these link to your past but also the choices you make in the present.

We will explore interactions between people, how you communicate and what influence the choices you make have on the relationships around you. This can be an effective approach especially  when someone experiences relationship difficulties and distress. Also, through self reflection we will look at alternative solutions to find new ways to support you in the future.

I also continuously undergo professional development through a broad range of training and courses, including: an intensive course in narrative practice; a graduate certificate in Expressive Therapies for adults and children; and, mediation and conflict resolution in the workplace.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
