I provide low cost counselling as I feel nobody should be excluded from counselling due to their finances
Training, qualifications & experience
I qualified with a BSc (Hons) in psychology in 1995 and worked at a residential eating disorders clinic before moving to work in primary mental health in 1996. During which time I studied part time and received an MSc in applied psychology in 1998. I worked in primary mental health for 10 years treating a wide range of problems including depression, drug abuse, eating disorders, post natal depression, work stress, relationship issues, physical and sexual abuse, anxiety and many more.
I have a diploma in CBT and have certificates in couple counselling and bereavement counselling. I have completed a course in mindfulness and have a diploma in nutrition
I am an accredited counsellor with the NCS and have graduate membership of the British Psychological Society (MBPsS)
I currently work for Macmillan supporting people with cancer and their families, providing both individual, couple and family counselling. I have a very personal interest in cancer and therefore I really do know what it is like. I also do group work helping people learn to deal with stress using many techniques including relaxation.
My special interests are eating disorders, relationship issues, bereavement, terminal illness and long term health problems. These are due to personal or family experience of these so I can really empathise and understand.
I believe that the counsellor client relationship is key to working on your issues and making changes. I provide a safe and secure environment that will enable you to openly talk about and evaluate your situation and what needs to be done to change it.
